cooking time :15 minutes
Ingredients:
fresh jackfruit-2 cups (finely chopped)
chana dal 1 tablespoon
mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
urad dal 1 teaspoon
dry red chilies 2
A few curry leaves
mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
red chillies 2
tamarind extract 1 tablespoon
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
A pinch of asafoetida
3 green chillies
salt as per taste
METHOD :
First prepare mustard seeds paste grind the mustard seeds and the dry chili adding water make it a thick paste.
Do not add too much water
Add 2-3 drops of oil and mix well and leave the paste for few minutes.
Take jack fruit pieces (cut the fruit like cabbage or you can put it in the mixer grinder but do not paste) ,salt,pinch turmeric powder in a pessure cooker by adding water and boil it for 2 whistles.
after few minutes drain water completely from the jack fruit and keep it aside.
now heat oil in a pan add chanadal,urad dal,cumin and mustard seeds,red chilies, green chillies and curry leaves fry for sometime.
then add tamrind extract to it and cook for few minutes later on add the boiled jack fruit to the mixture.
Then add the asafoetida,salt and Saute for a while until the water evaporates .
switch off the stove and add mustard paste .
take care to add the paste once the curry is warm so that it adds taste to the dish.
